Moving Day

I’ve been living in my Modern Urban Loft skybox rented from Pepita Rentals for about a month and it has been great. But now it’s moving day.

Here’s first a few pictures of my apartment as it looks today.

Yes, I know there’s not much furniture in here. I’ve used the place to take pictures in, to hang the art I’ve bought in … and to sleep in.

Yes, I know … *gasp* … a SL bed can actually be used to sleep in! It’s incredible! ;-P

I was so in love with this place when I first moved in – and I still am – so it’s a bit sad to leave. But I’ve rented an island and sky platform at the Ctrl Shift H sim and I’m looking forward to getting more space and having both a house, a studio and … I don’t know … landscape! Of some sort.

Oh I had tons of ideas about what I wanted to do here – but, well, one thing is ideas, it’s a completely other thing to actually make it reality. Suddenly, I have to spend a lot of money (well, I do that already *cough*) on trees, plants and other vegetation stuff… And then I want a horse and more bunnies and dogs and … And well, there’s still a prim count to work with – and I have to have my photo studio(s) as well … But it’s going to be so much fun!!!

Oh but still a bit sad to be leaving …

What I’m wearing:

  • Dress: Obsessive Dress (Spring Blush) – Sarah TheRed Aurbierre for Vanitas Vesture
  • Socks: Thermal Long Sockes (SoftPink Frayed) – Nena Janus for *League*
  • Shoes: Bloom Pump (Pink v2) – for Baby Monkey
  • Jewelry: The Kraken necklace (Tarnished) – Menno Ophelia for Kari
  • Makeup: Rosy Cheeks 1 – Tuli Asturias for Tuli
  • Hair: Aimee (Intense) – Woot!
  • Eyes: ‘Sunrise’ Eyes (Deep blue) – Ikon Innovia for FASHISM
  • Skin: Emma (fair, 06 Slate – copper brows – freckles)) – Tuli Asturias for Tuli
  • Shape: Bodyshape 1 (Avie) – Emilia Redgrave for REDGRAVE(modified by me)

Can I just say that I love this hair? It’s so amazingly cute! I got it as a demo at Fantasy Faire and loved it when I tried it, so wanted to see what else Woot! had to offer. I TPed to the store – and found myself in the middle of a market on a Gladiator RP sim… and no hair in sight. So I walked a bit around, admired a skeleton in a cage and chastity belts and finally went up some stairs and found Woot! hidden on a single wall, among other hairs and behind some skins. As far as I can tell, Woot! has 5 hair styles and this is by far the coolest. So I got this one and walked out happy – with no chastity belt.

A changed look

Yes, I did it! I took the plunge. Not the big plunge – just a tiny one. I went out and got myself a new shape – modded it a bit afterwards, but still, I look different. Take a look at the before and after pictures.

Before: Emma from Tuli (modified by me)

After: Avie by Redgrave (modified by me)

I like the big eyes I suddenly have – my Fashism eyes really shine now! It makes me look younger and more naive – but also a bit softer. I’m really happy with this shape and what it has done for my face, especially.

This is the biggest change I’ve made since I decided to be more me and to be in Second Life as Stinalina Dreamscape. And I really like it. Maybe I should look closer at the skin demos I have in my inventory…!

At this time of year, the sun might shine but the wind is often chilly. So I’m wearing shorts but remembering to layer so I don’t catch a cold. Also, since I’ve been running around at Fantasy Faire as well as lots of other places, I had to wear something that was easy to get around in. (But always remember, if you switch from a viewer allowing multiple tattoo layers to one not allowing it, be sure that your pants etc are not on a tattoo layer … Not the greatest thing in the world to find yourself in the middle of Fantasy Faire with your lower half completely naked … except for shoes and stockings (and not the fishnets that would have covered just a bit of the good stuff, of course)).

What I’m wearing:

  • Shorts: Billy Denim Shorts (Garage) – Fae Eriksen for Fishy Strawberry
  • Shirt: Lace Details Sweater (Wine) – Fae Eriksen for Fishy Strawberry
  • Fishnet Tights: Fishnet tights (purple, ripped) – Annyka Bekkers for Blowpop
  • Stockings: Sweetsocks (pink) – Babby Zeid for Beatnik (free gift)
  • Leg warmers: Arva Socks () – Azure Electricteeth for Tee*fy
  • Shoes: Astra Wedges (Plum) – Azure Electricteeth for Tee*fy
  • Necklace: African long and short necklaces – Julia Merosi for je suis
  • Makeup: LesMakeupLashes and DarkEyes06 – monica Outlander for Miamai
  • Hair: Isidora (cranberry) – Truth Hawks for Truth Hair
  • Eyes: ‘Sunrise’ Eyes (Deep blue) – Ikon Innovia for FASHISM
  • Skin: Emma (fair, 06 Slate – copper brows – freckles)) – Tuli Asturias for Tuli
  • Shape: Bodyshape 1 (Avie) – Emilia Redgrave for REDGRAVE(modified by me)

Renewal of the identity crisis

Well, I’ve been having the same shape and skin for a while now (*cough cough* about a month, I think *cough cough*) and I still love it. But I’m beginning to feel that I need to add something, to make it more unique. Just not sure what. See the thing is, while reading the entries in Project Endless Possibilities, I’ve noticed that several seem to have either known from the get-go what they wanted to be and look like – while others have had their identity slowly fall into place. I’m definitely in the second group – but I desperately want to be in the first group. I’m not sure why because it’s kind of fun watching it develop. But still – I’m searching for uniqueness.

I’ve tried bunny ears … not the playboy version but black lop bunny ears and while they were nice, it still didn’t feel quite like me. I’ve also tried various furry avatars but the thing is, I like clothes and shoes and I shop a lot so I don’t really want to have to change everything I buy to be able to wear it. So what then? I’ve considered antlers and tattoos but I have friends doing these so … Besides, is it really me?

Forest of Light – Fantasy Faire

So yesterday I decided to finally start checking out Fantasy Faire. I’ve been wanting to for ages but been busy with Pose Fair – turns out that was a mistake, since Fantasy Faire ends first… So I went yesterday and started. Made it to the second shop then I started talking with a Fae and ended up tagging along her to Terabithia where I got to wear my beautiful newly bought wings and play a fae all evening long and a bit into the night.

I had a lot of fun – at first, there was a lot to remember and learn and keep track of but as the time went by, I started to get more into character and more into the story going on, both the smaller spontaneous ones but also the bigger story arch. (So thanks so much for helping me out, Niamh! You’re a sweetheart!)

But what I’m wondering now is, where does being a fae fit into being me? Last night I was toying with the idea of being a fae, hiding out in the human world – but in the light of day … I don’t know. I still like having only one avi and using that for whatever I want to do in SL. Maybe I’m just RPing a fae – I’ve done a bit of RP in RL, so it would definitely be in character …

Been pondering what to do all day – also while wandering around again at Fantasy Faire. Wow – Forest of Light is an amazingly beautiful sim!

Forest of Light – Fantasy Faire

Am I making things too complicated? Probably – but I’m afraid that’s pretty much in character …

One of the stores at Forest of Light – Fantasy Faire

Evolving … punk or neko?

Fashion-wise that is.

My style is changing. It sort of feels like Stinalina is taking a bit over, becoming a more defined part of me and more assertive – also in creating her own look. She now dresses in ways that is further from my RL life style – there’s almost nothing, she wouldn’t wear. (Well, actually, there’s a lot she wouldn’t wear – but her range of selections has gotten wider.)

So here’s a couple of the looks that has been my/hers/our favorite looks for a while. Oh I really have to figure out how our relationship is … or if there is a relationship. How can I have a relationship with a part of me? Confused …

New, new, new

New place to live – a new bunny – a new me?

I’ve rented a skybox, a modern loft apartment, and it’s gorgeous. I love it so much. It’s big enough for me (and the bunny and the owl…!), it has room for my studio, it has walls big enough for the art I’m collecting – and best of all, it’s not a lag hell like the Linden house I left behind. I can actually walk up the stairs without falling down!

What I’m wearing:

  • Shirt: 0ca4 – Youki Cioc for Yome Shoujo (you get two free shirts)
  • Pants: poke – Youki Cioc for Yome Shoujo
  • Shoes: Slides (Purple/White) – Riq Graves for Reek
  • Hair: Nadine 2 (cranberry) – Truth Hawks for Truth Hair

This outfit is perfect for lounging around in the house – or moving boxes, hanging paintings, and all the other stuff you have to do after just having moved into a new place. And best of all – pants and shirt are free!

But now to the best part of my new home – I have a bunny, an Ozimal bunny. A little baby girl bunny, born March 14th, with light green eyes, upright ears and her fur is English spot tortoiseshell. She’s so cute.

I had so much fun watching her jump around yesterday – she really has tons of energy, especially when you remember that she’s newborn 🙂

I think Stinalina might be starting to develop her own identity. And her own style. I don’t think I would be wearing this outfit – but at the same time, it’s not that far from something I would wear. Maybe she’s breaking out of her shell? It’s interesting – when I first created this avatar, she dressed more or less exactly like me, but now, I feel a change coming, a need for her to dress differently, more boldly. I can’t wait to see where it takes us!

What I’m wearing:

  • Sweater: Knit sweater (Choco) – Fae Eriksen for Fishy Strawberry
  • Skirt: aimi – Youki Cioc for Yome Shoujo
  • Leggings: Metallic Shine Leggings (gold) – Nena Janus for *League* (Welcome gift)
  • Hair: Nadine 2 (cranberry) – Truth Hawks for Truth Hair

Can you tell, I love free stuff today?

I miss you

Enough said.

Art Hunt (part 2)

Well, finally I got around to continuing my art hunt. Now, this takes forever for me to do because I look at everything wherever I go.

In this round, I got to go to some really amazing galleries. I love this hunt because I get to visit these very different galleries that each have their own voice, their own type of art. Of the more traditional galleries, I loved Cadeling and Vespertine.

Let’s start with Cadeling Gallery since it was the first I visited. I had had trouble finding Cadeling Gallery by using the search. Luckily the hunt provided a LM because I was happy to visit. Cadeling is – at least at this time of year – a very peaceful gallery. You can sit quiet and contemplate while watching the snow falling. And I liked the art as well – especially the art by Ling Serenity. Luckily, the piece given out by this gallery was one of my favorites, a piece I would have come back and bought later. Still, I will definitely return, both to sit and relax but also to buy some more pieces.

Sighs – Vespertine Gallery… What can I say? I loved it! This is the kind of art where you stop in front of each piece and just let your mind flow, you get inspired to dream and reflect. I love art like this and I made a very long wishlist while walking around in this gallery. I definitely want to buy some of Talullah Winterwolf’s pieces because they are so inspiring to look at and be drawn into. The building itself was this bare brick style with amazing windows – kind of made you think of an old factory converted into art gallery.

I wanted to show you my favorite piece – but when I started looking at all the pictures I took, I realized that to show one piece and claim it as my favorite is impossible. So this is just one of the pieces I liked. Talullah Winterwolf works with layering because it resembles the way our memories are layered on top of each other and thereby influencing each other.

My third love was Project Z – especially Scottius Polke’s Mushroom Interactive Illustration. First of, when I just saw the poster, it made me think of one of Van Gogh’s paintings of the bedroom in the yellow house where he lived with Gaugain. And I loved Van Gogh so I was looking forward to seeing this.

Turned out, that when I got there, I forgot Van Gogh and felt completely like Alice in Wonderland. This is a really fun interactive art piece where you get to be very small in a big room. You can sit your small self in a big rocking chair, dance with amoebas, lie on (smelly) socks and more. It’s all very cool and I liked it a lot.

Finally, Trailer Trash. I really used a lot of time here. First, just admiring the installation and looking at everything and trying to grasp what the artist, oona Eiren, wanted to express. Remember to set your settings to midnight at this place (but also play a bit with the light – it looks so different when you change settings). And listen to the sounds. It’s really hard to take pictures of this but I just wanted to give you a glimpse. Secondly, looking for the hunt item. Turned out the hunt is actually over so oona had taken it down – luckily for me, she was actually there while I visited so I got to talk with her, very interesting!

I also just want to mention the art of Feathers Bay Gallery. This gallery had some great pieces which transformed as you walked towards them. I loved how it reacted to your proximity and used SL to the fullest. Not possible in real life (well, maybe it is but not quite like this, I don’t think).

For me, the Art Hunt was a really great hunt. It wasn’t very difficult which meant that you had time to really enjoy the artworks and the buildings. I also took some time to walk in several of the neighborhoods of the galleries since often the neighbors were also galleries and I got to do some great shopping as well in small boutiques around the galleries. I loved visiting the galleries and seeing all the different artist styles and I was really happy that so many different artists were together in this. I’m definitely going to visit several of the galleries again and I’m very grateful to the whole Art Hunt team. And thanks for the great art! Some really cool pieces in between!

What I’m wearing:

  • Jeans: Ripped78s (Dark Warm Blue) – by Nena Janus for *League*
  • Shirt: Lulu top concord – by Janie Marlowe for Jane
  • Tank top: Intrinsic tank (blue powder) – by Janie Marlowe for Jane (free gift)
  • Shoes: Pumps (Violet-Pink) – Onyx LeShelle for Maitreya (Group Gift Pumps)
  • Scarf: Wrap-Stripes Cool – by Nena Janus for *League*

Yes, I know I reuse a lot of the stuff I wear right now but I have a couple of reasons for that. First of, I love the stuff – my jeans for instance are just so cool and perfectly ripped. Second, I actually find it hard to find this type of laid-back and very casual clothes. Maybe I haven’t found the right stores yet but I don’t really think that’s it. I think that with all the possibilities we have in Second Life, most people don’t want to wear just a simple shirt, tank top and jeans – they want excitement and extravaganza – what most of us doesn’t have in real life. And I don’t blame them – hopefully, I will evolve together with my avatar in a way so she also can take full advantage of the very cool stuff you can get! (Just want to mention that Jane is a great place to get basic stuff like tank tops, stockings, scarves …)

Anyway, this was supposed to be a post about art so I’ll shut up about clothes. We’ll take the casual clothing discussion some other time!

(And btw, Cadeling Gallery looks nothing like when I first visited it – spring has come (but it’s still beautiful and peaceful):
