Shoe Fair is open!! (Shoe Fair 2011 #6)

So as soon as I saw these boots, I knew I had to have them. Oh my god, look at them, they are so pretty! And look at the details! It’s so amazingly well done! I just love looking at these!

As I mentioned earlier, some of the booths at Shoe Fair is taken by stores selling clothes etc, and one of these stores is Vanitas Vesture. At this booth, I found this very cute skirt which is just so cute. I have been buying quite a few skirts recently and had decided to cut back a little on the skirt shopping but … well, this one kind of jumped into my inventory all by itself (after I had clicked it and paid for it but …). I love how it works with the Siara shirt from League when the shirt is tucked into the skirt. Nice to have this possibility too when wearing this shirt. And the skirt so reminds me of tulips …

And the skirt and shirt just works so well together with the boots. Ah, the boots. Did I mention that they are gorgeous and pretty? I’m so happy that I spotted these among the many many offerings at Shoe Fair!

What I’m wearing:

  • Shirt: Siara Blouse (Cream) – Nena Janus for *League*

When I was walking around the fair, I did find it a bit hard to see which shoes were for charity and which were not and also sometimes which shoes were the new releases and which are already out. However, I think the managers of the event have taken care of this so these issues should be fixed when the fair opens.

Here are the SLurls for Shoe Fair 2011:

Shoe Fair Iridium
Shoe Fair Ruthenium
Shoe Fair Osmium
Shoe Fair Rhodium

Info about the build itself (it’s beautiful!):

Tya Fallingbridge of Pixel Mode did the build, which is based on the concept of 9 hours, a Japanese compartment hotel. It is minimalist, monochromatic and chic.

Below, you’ll find the entire press release about this year’s fair, what charity it support and more:

2011 Shoe Fair Press Release

Nearing the event launch, a full calendar of events and a complete vendor listing will be available on the official Shoe Fair blog at bit.ly/shoefair. Footwear aficionados can also keep up-to-date by following on Facebook (facebook.com/SLShoeFair), Plurk (plurk.com/SLShoeFair) and Twitter (twitter.com/SLShoeFair).

Last year, your support and participation led to L$1Million raised for Soles4Souls. This year, organizers hope that your contributions will enable the event to match or exceed the L$1Million mark, allowing people and communities in over 125 countries (including the Pakistan, Haiti, Nepal, Kenya, and Thailand) to gain access to much-needed footwear.

Why shoes? The simple answer: try walking barefoot for a day. In some developing countries, children and women in particular have to walk miles for food, clean water, or for medial help. Walking shoeless can lead to debilitating conditions that can severely impact a person’s quality of life and their ability to provide for themselves and their family.

This year, from May 14 to 27 you don’t have to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to make a difference. You just have to turn your appreciation for shoe aesthetics into something more tangible for those in need through your purchases and donations.
